WIPO Discusses the Future of Copyright During the General Assemblies with the Participation of 194 Member States
The World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) hosted the 68th Series of Meetings of the Assemblies of its Member States at its headquarters in Geneva, bringing together representatives from 194 member states to discuss key issues shaping the future of intellectual property and copyright in the digital era.
The meetings focused on the challenges posed by artificial intelligence to copyright systems, while exploring ways to modernize legal frameworks and licensing mechanisms to ensure a balanced approach that promotes innovation while safeguarding the economic and moral rights of authors and publishers. Participants also reviewed the work of WIPO’s specialized committees and discussed strengthening international cooperation among governments, intellectual property offices, and collective management organizations.
WIPO emphasized that building a modern copyright system requires stronger international collaboration and flexible solutions that keep pace with rapid technological developments.
