ABOUT ERRA

a UAE national  licensed body non-profit association representing emirati and foreign publishers and authors

ERRA is the first-of-its-kind copyright management association licensed in the UAE. A not-for-profit organization focused on education and cultural promotion, in charge of managing the rights to publish copied literary pieces that have been contractually transferred to the association.

At ERRA, we represent prestigious international authors, publishers, and numerous rights holders in the publishing industry. Moreover, our company assists both educational institutions and various organizations by issuing and granting licenses to reuse printed and digital works. This practice contributes to spreading knowledge in the UAE by reproducing a vast repertoire of publications, following strict rights of reproduction. 

The Emirates Reprographic Rights Management Association (ERRA) is a collective licensing body as defined under Articles 32 – 34 of the UAE Federal Copyrights and Neighbouring Rights Law No. (38) of the Year 2021 as well as the Cabinet Decision No. (47) of 2022 on the Implementing Regulation of the Copyright Law.

ERRA is the first not-for-profit organization collectively representing authors and publishers in the United Arab Emirates.

Through bilateral agreements, ERRA also represents international authors and publishers. 

ERRA issues licenses for the re-use of print and digital works to educational establishments, and other organizations, permitting copying within certain rules from a wide repertoire of UAE and overseas publications.

We are non profit-making, so our revenue is paid out as royalties to the rightsholders. If you are a national or a resident of the UAE, or have a registered office in the UAE, and are the copyright owner of a literary work, find out more about claiming royalties.

Why do we do it?

A healthy publishing market is a pre-requisite for literary authors to write and for publishers to invest in a culturally rich production and dissemination of products and services.

The print and publishing markets are one of the biggest cultural sectors in society. Individual Management of reprographic rights is often either impracticable or impossible. This is why rightsholders establish professional organizations to look after their rights.
