WHAT WE DO
As a reprographic rights association and sole licensing body, we strive to share knowledge while preserving the creative talent of authors and publishers.
Today, reprography is a widely used form of printed and digital literary content distribution. Therefore, a reproduction rights association becomes a key partner for authors and publishing companies.
At The Emirates Reprographic Rights Management Association, we are committed to monitoring, managing and protecting copyrights efficiently on behalf of authors and publishers. Through a comprehensive approach, we manage the reprographic rights of literary works contractually transferred to our association.
Furthermore, at ERRA, we work diligently on issuing the necessary licenses to re-use digital and printed publications. That way, we enable educational institutions and several other organizations to copy a wide array of publications following specific rules established for the process. Therefore, we ensure rights holders are adequately reimbursed for the reprographic use of their work.
ERRA represents rightsholders – authors and publishers whose works are copied under the ERRA Licensing Scheme.
It has mandate agreements with rightsholders from the UAE and reciprocal agreements with Overseas RROs and CMOs that provide the repertoire that can be copied under its licensing services.
Our vision is to reflect one of the most important UAE goals in the creative industry.
As the one-of-its-kind reprographic rights association in the UAE, we are committed to ensuring authors and publishers the copyright of their work is protected, valued and remunerated. At ERRA, we believe in the importance of developing an ecosystem where creators are adequately remunerated for the use of their work while enriching the culture with their knowledge.
Our mission is to work with authors and publishers while granting the users (such as High Education Institutions, Libraries, Copy shops, …) fair use of their content and getting the royalties for their work. Our association was established within a legal framework that ensures transparent operations with rights and license holders. ERRA operates under a voluntary collective licensing system for reprographic reproduction rights, under which it issues licenses to copy content on behalf of the copyright owners who have given their mandates.
As reprographic rights include multiple types of reproduction methods, our goal is to protect the creator’s work by administrating how the content and royalties are shared. Transparency in the collective administrative approach is one of the core values that drive our mission.
Furthermore, ERRA works dedicatedly on monitoring the secondary uses of published works and protecting the rights on behalf of rightsholders. We are on a quest to spread knowledge and improve the students’ experience at educational institutions in the UAE. We believe that reprographic rights are a key resource for giving broader access to literary works that contribute to our cultural growth.
