SGAE Distributes €360 Million to More Than 97,000 Members
The Spanish Society of Authors and Publishers (SGAE), one of Europe’s largest collective management organizations, announced record financial results for 2025, distributing €360 million in copyright royalties to 97,415 authors, composers, and publishers. The distribution represents a 3.1% increase compared to the previous year, while the number of rightsholders receiving payments grew by 16.5%, reflecting the expanding reach and effectiveness of collective rights management.
SGAE also reported its highest annual revenue on record, with total collections reaching €393.4 million. International revenue increased by 14.3%, while digital income rose to €64.1 million. Music streaming generated €41 million, marking a 22.3% increase over the previous year. In addition, the organization reduced its administration fee to 16.57%, allowing an additional €8 million to be returned to rightsholders since 2021.
According to SGAE, these results demonstrate the vital role of collective management organizations in transforming the use of creative works into sustainable income for creators. The figures also highlight the growing importance of international licensing, digital rights management, and efficient royalty distribution systems in supporting authors, publishers, and the broader creative economy.
